We offer

Experience our exhibition!
With a mixture of traditional museum techniques and modern media we take you closer to the four largest predators in Scandinavia – wolf, bear, lynx and wolverine. Why does the wolverine male sometimes kill the cubs? What does a lynx foot print look like? What does a satellite collar look like? At the exhibition you find the answers – by yourself or with a guide.

Through close co-operation with Grimsö Viltforskningsstation (Grimsö Wildlife Research Station) and the Scandinavian Wolf Project "Skandulv" we can offer you, as a visitor, the latest findings in wildlife research.

During the early 90-ies the wolf bitch Ylva made the headlines when she endeavoured to move into populated areas and tried to socialise with tame dogs and people. You can now see her, stuffed, here at The Predator centre.

Pat a moose!
The moose is an important beast of prey for both the wolf and the bear and has, because of this, a given place at The Predator centre. At the exhibition you can also read about how we people behave; we are also predators.

The Predator centre café invites you to a break
Welcome for a break at the beautiful environment of the café! We serve genuine Swedish kanelbullar (cinnamon buns), unique vargbitar (wolf bite pastry) and traditional skrädmjölsdrömmar (cookies make of special oatmeal). On a warm summers day perhaps you’d like an ice cream? If you prefer something more substantial we can recommend the filled Ciabatta sandwich, a pie, or perhaps pancakes with marmalade and whipped cream for the children. You can sit both indoors or outside in the garden with a magnificent view over the landscape of Värmland. If you prefer the company of a book, you are welcome to bring your coffee to the library.

Souvenir shop with a large range of gifts
The Predator centre souvenir shop offers a large range of souvenirs. Here you can find local handicraft, books, videos and our own special souvenirs. As an example of our own products we would like to mention the coffee tray with predators pattern, designed by Helena Bengtsson and our own tea, “Predators tea” with taste of honey, cacao and whiskey. Here you can also find the famous forged candleholder “Ekshäradsstaken”. There is something for everyone who wants to bring home a memory or buy a gift.

Excursions in the wolf territory
Do you want to learn more about the four big predators?
Combine experience with knowledge and participate in one of our excursions. That way you can come close to nature and the home environment of the animals.
Together with the skilful people at the Predators centre you make your way out in the nearby forests. Along curved roads in the deep forests of Värmland we show you tracks and other signs of the animals. The field personnel will show it to you in their own personal way. Here you can get answers to your questions about our predators and the nature around them.

Find out how the fieldwork within the research project Skandulv is being executed. From the Predator centre we go together to the wolf territory, the excursion is mainly done by car, which makes it accessible for everyone! During this tour we will be looking for prints, droppings and other signs of wolfs, and you are given the opportunity to try the locating device and see how it works. The field personnel inform you of the latest results in the research and tell you about the wolves in the territory.
At a suitable time and place we make a break with coffee and sandwiches that we have brought along from the Predator centre. This excursion takes approx. 4 hours.

Tracking excursion
When the snow covers the forests there is the possibility to experience the wolf territory on skis or snowshoes! In order not to disturb the animals we follow the tracks backwards, and study all the signs we find in the wolf’s path, odour indications, droppings, tracks, rests of prey animals. The field personnel inform us about the latest results in the research and tell us about the wolves in the territory. The tracking excursion is done in forest terrain, and therefore the participants need to be physically fit. This excursion takes approx. 4 hours.
